We had an amazing Easter lunch at Micheaux's from the time we walked in until we left ! Excellent customer service and atmosphere! The owner came out to our table to check to see us it was amazing! Also the young lady (hostess/waitress) who checked to see if we need anything all throughout our visit and we had 15 people at our table! We will definitely be back for the Excellent Food and Excellent Service ! The oxtail mac and cheese greens cornbread turkey wings smothered pork chops and yams were delicious!

After a long track meet, we decided to try Micheaux’s Catering, and overall, we were really happy with the food. Everything felt healthy—meaning it wasn’t greasy or heavy with excess oil or butter—but still full of good flavor. I ordered the meatloaf, my husband got the oxtail, and my son had the fried chicken. I’d absolutely order my meatloaf plate again. The creamed corn was absolutely delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed my green beans and mashed potatoes. The yams were also very good! My husband loved the oxtail and couldn’t stop talking about it. There were a couple of misses. I wasn’t thrilled with the 7 banana pudding—it wasn’t bad, but I’ve definitely had better for less. To me, it felt overpriced. The cornbread was another letdown. The menu said it was jalapeno cornbread, but if someone had told me it was plain, I would’ve believed them. Even with those small complaints, we had a positive experience. If I’m ever in the area and craving some Southern food, I would definitely go back. I’m really glad we found it!

I ordered oxtails, rice, mac and cheese, greens, cornbread, and banana pudding. I wish I would have ordered another plate to eat today. The oxtails was falling right off the bones. Everything was 5 stars. The hospitality from the owners and employees were amazing. I wish I had time to stop by today before my flight. The food was unbelievable. Don’t take my word for it if your in Houston Texas go find out for yourself.

We were in the mood for something new. Drove down Hwy 6, saw Micheaux’s and decided give them a try. Please keep in mind when reading a restaurant review that everyone has different tastes. We LOVED the food and the exceptional flavor! The staff were very professional and encouraging at the same time. So many choices for our first visit. The man in front of me kept asking about the items in the steam table, so I was fortunate to not have to ask. He kept adding to his order and along with his dine in order, placed a large order to go. I chose one of my favorites. Oxtails. So good. Came right off the bones with the tip of my spoon. Not greasy and so very flavorful. Okra and Tomatoes. I could have eaten a much alrger bowl. They had the right amount of spice and were so tender. The mashed potatoes were not from a box, I can tell you that for sure, neither was the rich dark gravy! The only thing that was not spectacular (in my opinion) was the plain cornbread. It was just that plain, but I feel it should be that way so it does not conflict with all the other flavors that you are soaking it in. My dining partner chose the Catfish, Cabbage and Mac & Cheese. His face did a "Keith Lee" when he bit into the catfish! When he broke off the first bite the steam wafted up and I could hear the crunch across the table. The Mac & Cheese was perfection. I took a bite of his and wanted the bowl for myself. The cabbage reminded me of my childhood. His comment regarding the hushpuppies was that they were exactly the way he liked them. We will be back! Maybe not every week, but at least once a month. Micheaux's will become a permanent part of our Sunday Dinner rotation. We sat at a booth next to the window and the amount of to-go orders was amazing. People taking orders out with enough food to feed a small army! PS. I got an order of the yams to go and had them for breakfast. So yummy. I forgot to take a picture.

Micheaux's Soul Food Restaurant is truly a gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and incredible hospitality. The team was exceptionally accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome. One of the standout features is their party room, which can be rented out for gatherings—perfect for anyone looking to host a private event with fantastic food in a cozy setting. I recently placed a last-minute catering order with them, and I was blown away by how helpful they were in getting everything prepared on time. They managed it seamlessly, showing flexibility and attention to detail to make sure everything was ready when needed. The food itself was absolutely delicious, capturing that authentic soul food taste that’s hard to find. Every dish was seasoned to perfection, and you could tell they put a lot of heart into their cooking. Whether you're dining in or ordering out, Micheaux's never disappoints. I can't recommend them enough for anyone looking for a place with great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a team that genuinely cares about their customers. I’ll definitely be back and encourage everyone to give them a try!

Very much enjoyed the food. I ordered to-go. The blackened salmon was divine and had a garlic sauce that was so flavorful. Fried chicken was crispy, moist and seasoned perfectly. The smothered porkchops were really tender, dressing was really good. Enjoyed the lemon pound cake & staff was very pleasant. We will definitely return for some more good homecoming.

I’ll start by acknowledging the amazing and friendly service we received here. Being our first visit, we needed some pointers on the ordering process which turned out to be quite straightforward. The smothered pork chops were delicious and a large enough plate to share with the accompanying two sides. We added an extra side since we couldn’t resist all the flavorful offerings.

Their new location on Hwy 6 is terrific. Main dining room is large & tables can be moved together for groups. They’ve even added a side room for private parties. Happy to say their Southern Cooking tastes even better! I come on Sundays for their cornbread dressing. Yum! Love their smothered pork chops, okra & tomatoes, cabbage, corn casserole, mac & cheese, German Chocolate cake... you get the idea! Only wish they had plain iced tea but sweet tea lovers will be happy. Be sure to check their hours! PS - April 2025 -They now have unsweet tea! Yeah! I’m here again on a Sunday & got their yummy dressing. I also ordered their 2-piece catfish dinner & ended up with 3 pieces because the server said one was “small.” (Bless her heart!) Not to me, but ate it all along with green beans. I have signed up for their email notifications so they sent me a 5.00 off bday coupon. Be sure to do that! Also got meatloaf, corn casserole and mashed potatoes ToGo. I know! I know!! Carbs galore, but so good
